Welcome to Bolivia
Think of what South America is to you and Bolivia
will come to mind. Here you find a little bit of everything that
can be called South American. In the north and west it borders Brazil,
in the south-west Argentina, in the south-east Chile and in the
north-west Peru.
Here the high culture of the Incas had its origins; then the Incas
were exploited by the Spanisch conquistadores and later by the
greed of the tin barons. The white minority has always ruled,
while the mestizos and the indigenous population have always been
the underclass.
Simon Bolivar, the man who liberated South America, built and
named Bolivia. Ché Guevara, the famous revolutionary, made
his last stand here.
Bolivia's natural beauty has tremendous variety. In no other
country can you find up to 6,000m-high snow-covered mountains,
as well as geysers, hot springs and salt lakes. World-renowned
Lake Titicaca, situated at a height of over 4000m, will dazzle
you as will Bolivias jungles, huge plateaus, deserts and fertile
valleys.
