Bolivia: People

The population mainly comprises indigenous people who still live in rural areas, trying to cope with the hardships of life.
The poor living conditions dampen the pride of these descendants of the Incas. Although they are friendly and polite towards strangers, they initially keep their distance. But if you show real interest in them and their country, you will be welcomed with tremendous hospitality. If you really get to know a Bolivian - you have found a friend for life. People will help you as much as they possibly can.

The Bolivians are a very religious people regardless of their confession. Their faith forms a constant in their lives. The younger generation now shows less interest in religion, but evidence of strong belief is still found all over Bolivia. For example, it is very common for Bolivians to cross themselves when they walk past a church.

The loss of traditional values is particularly apparent in the North, where the Aymara live. For them, begging is not only looked down upon but is also completely incompatible with their strong sense of pride. Nevertheless, more and peopld must resort to begging because of the miserable economic situation. This will surely change, however, once the economy turns around. Then the people will surely also be more content and the country will be more interesting and beautiful than it already is.
